A woman with cancer is turning her chemo treatments into funny and inspiring photo ops
THIS IS BROADWAY actress Karen Walsh – she was diagnosed with stage four colon cancer earlier this year.
It’s not an easy situation, but she makes the most of her chemotherapy treatments by playing dress-up with all her friends, and documenting it on Instagram:
The 40-year-old mother of two found out she had cancer after going to the doctor with stomach cramps – the tumours are inoperable, so she has had to endure many rounds of chemo.
Speaking to the Huffington Post, Walsh said that she sees the photos as a “coping mechanism” and a way to get her friends and family involved in her treatment.
Here they are taking on superheroes:
(Hamilton fans may recognise Phillipa Soo – AKA Eliza – in the Robin costume there.)
Getting their Star Wars on:
Celebrating St Patrick’s Day:
Forming the Breakfast Club:
And raiding Willy Wonka’s factory:
Karen says that having her friends join her for the photoshoots has helped her get through her treatment:
